Protecting Your Family's Privacy: A Guide for Parents

One of the most concerning features of broker profiles is the 'relatives' section. If your information is listed, your spouse, children, and parents are often listed right next to you.
Why families are targeted
Scammers use family connections for 'grandparent scams' and impersonation fraud. Exposed home addresses can also create physical safety risks.
Practical steps
Talk with family members about not oversharing locations and schedules on social media. Set social accounts to private. Use a family removal plan so every adult in the household is removed from broker sites, not just one person.
Older relatives
Discuss impersonation scams with older relatives and agree on how to verify urgent requests for money. Call-blocking and broker opt-outs can be useful precautions, but neither guarantees that scam calls will stop.
